Characteristics[edit | edit source]
Canyon Goddesses are medium enlightenment beings which populate Palo Duro Canyon and realms within Arscil. Their main role in rebuilding Arscil to train souls in their arscil realms for bringing back Arscil's glory after Ire's disaster. They are divided into Iva and Inva: Iva are usually good or natural goddesses, while Inva usually revolve around something morally gray or evil.
The most important aspect of a Canyon Goddess is the four elements of their mental identity. The four elements are their alignment (so Inva or Iva), their beings (which are essentially projections of their own souls), their realms (which are formed as the goddess' ideal mindscape) in Arscil, and their role or purpose (like what natural element they "reign" over).
The Canyon Goddesses are the goddesses that reign over the canyon. Per Kas, "for some reason" they are all female, or all appear female. Most have chosen the female gender specifically because this gives rise to a greater amount of worship than if they were men. They possess various powers as a result of their soul's enlightenment powers.
Canyon goddesses like those who go against their wishes instead those who always kiss-up to them. The most rewarding follower to a canyon goddess is someone who is both loyal, yet does not bend to their every wishes. Prayer to the Canyon Goddesses can help you build your favor with them. When in the Canyon, you can ask for their help in certain situations, though they may not always help you out directly. The goddess who you pray to the most will claim your soul after death and gets to decide where you are reborn in Arscil. They also will guide you throughout your journey in Arscil and will choose how lucky you are. The Canyon Goddesses give more favor to those who respect them more as part of the soul training program in Arscil, which is where the Goddesses will control your fate in Arscil to build up your strength and endurance, both physically and mentally, so you can more easily return Arscil to its former glory. This is because the more respect you give them, the more you will be likely to obey their commands on repairing Arscil. The less "fit" you are, or the less you worship the goddesses, the more rigorous your program will be once you die in order to get you into shape!
Activities[edit | edit source]
Goddesses like to do a lot of stuff for "fun" in between their main job of watching humanity and maintaining canyon equilibrium. Kas lists the following examples:
They eat. They really have no reason to, but they love the taste of food and drinks so it’s not surprising.
The fight each other for fun. The goddesses don’t really bicker amongst each other, but they do love to see who is the strongest.
Having sex with each other or in rare cases, mortals.
Walking the canyon and relaxing there.
They love creating supernatural beings for fun.
The goddesses talk to each other and mortals they find wandering the canyon.
Control their mortal incarnations/vessels.
Creating peace or havoc depending on the goddess in question.
They have a habit of making artifacts that mortals could get their hands on.
History[edit | edit source]
Most goddesses were formed out of the souls of fallen Ancients who died in their own civil war. The souls were accumulated and preserved by Cyve, who then granted them divinity.
The first Goddess, Kamui, was given divinity by Azerai, and chosen as the one who will manage the Earth and keep it in equilibrium. She helped influence the creation of Cyve, who later went on to be the reason of the creation of all the other goddesses, as well as the one who helped create them as well.
