Characteristics[edit | edit source]
A Maiden is the paranormal being created by the the goddess of the canyon, Cyve. They are also known as a Daughter of the Canyon. They tend the canyon’s most sacred nature areas, and have been doing so since the canyon's creation. They aren’t hostile until you enter their territory and will give you a fair amount of warnings before doing so. They come in so many variants as well, so every encounter with them is different. Maidens with animal behaviors are way more aggressive and will attack out of instinct. In fact, if they see anyone harm nature, they may actually eat them! The Maidens have a respect for anyone that protects nature, hence why they respect Makani so much.
The canyon maidens were tall, skin tones varied pale to tan, hair varied white to black, ears were pointed and long, and eyes varied blue to red. They can hear an intruder approaching their homes from a literal mile away.
Venomous maidens, like spider maidens, look different. Black, purple, or brown hair is common common. Purple means venomous, black is non venomous, and tan means they are related to tarantulas. They each have have red colored eyes, fangs, and pale skin. They have unbelievable beauty and that is the trick to them, they lure men, women, and children into a false sense of security and strike.

Examples such as spider maidens, which are literally just spiders in a human body.

One time, Kas was out trying to find a lost boy when he fell and got knocked unconscious. He would have frozen to death had a maiden not taken him to a nearby goddess village, one that served Makani. Normally, these maidens eat people that cause damage to nature, but Kas' Aura prevented her form eating him and instead she felt pity, and saved him. Some of the villagers confused the maiden for a skinwalker.
