Kas' Aura

From Wolf Scrapbook

This page is all speculation.

Properties[edit | edit source]

Kas' aura is an element of Kas' soul that makes him a magnet for all sorts of things, especially paranormal. Kas often wonders why he always runs into paranormal beings almost every time he goes to the canyon, when other people can search their entire lives and not bump into one. This is most likely because his aura acts as a beacon to beings who, interested, approach him.

Other than acting as a magnet for the paranormal, Kas' Aura also acts as an alluring mechanism. It "softens up" the beings when they are talking to him. Even evil or aggressive beings, who wouldn't think twice about killing anyone else, have a hard time trying to kill Kas and mostly just befriend him later. In addition, it allows him to gain much greater favor with the goddesses, allowing them to appear often in his dreams, and even appear in person to him in the canyon. They also will protect Kas and show him their favor more often than with many other canyon explorers. This favor with the goddesses may explain why Kas has been close to dying numerous times, but has always pulled through. Notable examples include a maiden who normally eats people saving an unconscious Kas from freezing, having Kas survive a 800 foot fall while riding a dune buggy (even I find that impressive), and saving Kas not one but twice from death where he actually makes it to Arscil.

Origins[edit | edit source]

Kas' aura may or may not actually be a real thing, but if it is, there must be some origin for it. Two theories I have are that it is hereditary, and that it is a feature of his being a reincarnation of Coyote.

Evidence that supports it could be passed down in family (though skipping a few generations sometimes) is Kas' great grandpa. Kas' great grandpa was an explorer just like Kas who ran into his fair share of entities, almost as many as Kas, allowing him to make his scrapbook that he passed on to Kas. In addition, he likely experienced many life or death scenarios, yet survived long enough to see his great grandchildren. He has met many goddesses and even hostile demons, who instead of killing him just scolded him and sent him back.

The other possibility is Kas' Aura is related to his special nature as the reincarnation of the hero Coyote. Coyote was notable for being the hero that saved the Canyon, and also who brought equilibrium to it after 350 million unsuccessful years. His reincarnations are all created by the goddess of life, Cyve, to maintain the balance in the Canyon. In order to do so, the reincarnations would have to be able to make peace with the various beings that exist there so they could exist as a neutral party in mediations. So, perhaps the Aura is an addition to Coyote's soul by Cyve that allows his reincarnations to better fulfill their mission. Or, it could simply be a virtue of Coyote's powerful soul that is strong enough to attract many curious beings to it.
